Pistons for the Marine AQ130a-d, AQ170a-c, and the automotive Volvo B20 or B30 engines in the 142, 144, 145, 242, 244, 245, 1800, and 164 are all the same. There are many automotive dealers that sell pistons, but they are all very expensive these days. You need to be aware that even within one of these engine runs, they made an improvement that increased the size of the piston pins. Therefore, your pistons are either the 22mm variety if they are prior to roughly 1972 or the 24mm variety thereafter. When the piston pins were increased, the connecting rods and crank shafts were also changed. This also caused the connecting rod and main bearings to be changed. One easy way to tell what you have is to count the number of bolts holding the flywheel onto the crankshaft. If you have 6 bolts you have the older smaller 22mm piston pin pistons, if you have 8 bolts on the flywheel, you have the larger 24mm piston pin pistons. |
