I have a 1980 MC-1 drive. Had to pull to do some motor work. Was getting together a parts list, and noticed i had a gasket kit for a alpha-1 drive. Looks like all the same o-rings, but the gasket has one extra hole on one side. I put it on the bellhousing, and it looks like everything lines up. Can this gasket kit be used? Or should i just buy the right kit? |

It's funny but that extra hole in the gasket doesn't line up with anything in the Alpha1 drive either but the gasket works fine. |

Merc does not sell that kit any longer only the one you have. Seria may have the proper gasket. My advice would be to use that gasket and put a dab of rtv in the hole. When tightening the older shaped outdrives it tends to squeeze the gasket out a bit. The Newer outdrives have a wider flange then the older housings........ |

Ayuh,... The extra hole is for the Alpha 1, Gen.IIs... Even Seirra is selling only the 1 kit, atleast at my local Napa... It works Perfectly on all of them back to the early Mod.1s.. I buy the kit's by the 1/2 dozen at I think $6 each.... maybe less.. |
