1967 120hp 2.5, type I(?). Has the loop on the upper house cap. The gimbal ring to bell house pins are press in with nails for set pins. I am re-working the gimbal ring. We are getting ready to paint and we have a question about the hinge pin area, inboard side. Where the hinge pin fits through the ring to hold the bell house there is a washer between the two pieces. Upon removal this area was worn smooth from wear on both the ring and bell. Is the area where the washer contacts the gimbal ring to be painted or not? I would paint the gimbal ring and lubricate the washer on the bell side. The bell house has the lub point. I assume the ring is the set point and the bell is the motion point. Thoughts on this?
