I was just curious i am going to replace my interior in my 1986 140hp mercruiser searay seville. And i was wondering my control lever is a moris model mns.My question is can the lever be removed and be reinstalled to the rest of the unit so i can replace the vinyl on the drivers side trim without messing anything up or would i be better to wedge the nev vinyl behind the levers plate so it didnt have to be removed

you should be able to remove, maybe see if you can find a manual on the internet, or manufacturer' website, and/or post a couple pics of what you have..

You dont need to remove the shift cables, remove screw and handle should come off, should be a cove over screws that mount it, remove screws and the back and front should be free.

here's a manual, gives everything but removing as long as you remove the handle in the same position you put it back in, you'll be fine.. removing the cables is really easy on this model too..
