Kghost-I though I would start another post. :-)

We (Guy, You and Me) went throught this in a post lower about where I found scale in my lower out drive, but never found an issue.........

My boat is a 2001 4.3L with Alpha 1 gen (+ or II, not sure on that). The serial number is M046231.

Guy provided a link that shows the 160, and that is what I keep finding too.

Thanks,Jasson.

I just rechecked, and the one that came out is 160 F, and the boat actually runs at just below 175 F. The 175F is at the middle of the temp gauge too.

You are correct!!

I am surprised!!

Also the site I looked at shows that serial number to be 1997.

Thank you!!!!!!

AND thanks for the info., the boat is a 2001 Maxum, and that seems like a long lag time.....

Thanks again.
Jasson.

Kghost-Not sure, but my engine may be newer then that. I was just looking through a Sierra catalog, and on page 579 it has Merc model ID. I have not run across this page before. :-)

It has listed 4.3l (Gen+)(2 bbl.) L010044-UP 1998-UP. Not sure, but just ran across this tonight.

I guess I have the Gen + and not II, do you know what the difference is?

Thanks,Jasson.

The page I copied the image from did not say 1998 and up but I suspect that to be the case also.

+ and II to me appear the same but I am not 100% sure...
