hi im replacing the seals in my upper unit.the bottom seal where the lower unit shaft slides in,is the spring on the seal facing up or down.the old one was facing up and l think that was wrong. thank you |

It was in correctly, merc. does it this way,why ? I have heard different reasons. all I know is every time you seperate the upper and lower the o-ring on the shaft is striped off and found up inside that seal. |

thanks allan for the come back.i did put the new seal in with the spring and lip facing up,i was hoping i would not have to redo it thanks |
