Can anyone tell me why Tohatsu changed the exhaust to such a small pipe on the D2 model
and why was the decition made to change the Head and Cam

The 40 D and 50 D had different blocks, cranks, etc. The D 2 series was a production change to utilize the same block and crank to reduce production costs.

That make sense,however 50D1 block and 50D2 block and cranks the same they should just changed the 40D1 to the 50D block like Yamaha has
My problem is the TLDI has the old D1 Exhaust but the D2 has a much smaller exhaust losing power on top end which is big prop problem for the Std and Blueprint Class as we lose torque in the upper end of rev range, gain a bit in the middle
