I am looking to replace my 15 hp 2-stroke (came with 28 Columbia Sailboat) and was directed to Tohatsu. I saw the electric start long shaft 15hp manual tilt and it looks good......any issues or drawbacks to know??? Also I read in a post of yours that Mercury was Tohatsu......in general who makes which motors and which would be the best 15hp long shaft to purchase??? Thanks for your time!!!

Tohatsu makes Mercury in that size. I would base a purchase of a new engine on three things.
Price
Warranty
Local service availability
Depending on what is most important to you any brand may be the "best". I wouldn't over think it too much. There is no bad brand so you will probably be happy with anything that you actually end up getting. |
