I have a 89 basscatt phelix with a 70 h.p. Nissan outboard. i went out fishing yesterday and it ran fine all day long until I tried to come back to the launch. this is what i've got. When i start the motor, it idles fine! if i out it in reverse it propels backwards fine! however, when i put it in forward, it will only get up to 1100 r.p.m.'s (that's at full throtle). it won't even go fast enough to pull the nose of the boat out of the water. when i finally got to the boat launch i tried this (with the motor OFF of course) if i put in reverse, the prop would lock (it wouldn't turn clockwise nor counter-clockwise). if i put it in nutrual it would spin freely in either direction. and when i put it in forward, it would spin freely clockwise, but would not spin counter-clockwise. can any of you guys here help me figure out what is going on amd where should i start? |

Could be a problem with the bearing on the forward gear or a linkage problem. |
