I have a 8hp two stroke tohatsu that I race and need to up the hp .I see the 9.8hp model looks idendical.
Someone must know where the extra 1.8 hp comes from.I have bought a carb of a 9.8 only to find its all the same jets and bore size ?Are we having the wool pulled over our eyes?????? |

I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE SOMTHING LIKE THAT .WHAT IS IT THAT IS DIFFRENT?IF ITS THE PORTS
IS IT THE EXHAUST OR ARE ALL THE PORTS CHANGED.AND DO YOU THINK ITS POSABLE TO CHANGE THE 8HP BLOCK TO MATCH THE 9.8.

Block porting, but as Tohatsu does not publish it's engineering blueprints I don't know how you could change it. |

THANKS FOR THAT.I MANAGED TO GET A BLOCK FROM A 9.8HP TODAY AND YES YOU ARE RIGHT.VERY CLEVER THOSE JAPS.THERE IS NOT MUCH IN IT BUT HARD TO COPY.ILL LET YOU KNOW I IF GAIN BETTER PREFORMACE THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.FROM RAOUL IN LAKE TAUPO NEW ZEALAND |

WELL TRYED OUT THE 9.8 MOTOR TODAY ONLY TO BE DISAPOINTED..0.5 KPH FASTER TO 46.5KPH .LOOKS LIKE IT MIGHT BE JUST A BIT OF BADGE SALES GOING ON. |
