I understand that a 10% blend of gas and ethanol is acceptable by most manufactures. I will be living in a foreign country many miles from a filling station and will be makeing some ethanol and want to burn it in the outboard, anyone have a clue what I might have to do in order to burn say a 50/50 mix of gas and ethanol ??? |

Nothing...But you will be buying replacement engines on a regular basis. |

Guru, Care to share some thoughts as to why ethanol should not be used, I mean if someone can explain why 10% is acceptable and higher percentages are not that would be helpful. |

Most outboard engines have not been designed or tested with high levels of ethanol in mind. Use of ethanol above 10% voids the warranty because of that. As to actual reason why....It dry's out the cylinders causing catastrophic engine failure. There are some engines available by Yamaha in some countries that will run off the stuff, but they are designed just for that fuel. |
