2006 DFD140TLK6 SerNo 14001F 680483 with 128 hours on it. Checked oil and found it to be the consistency of a milkshake and tan colored. Changed oil - got over 6 qts of "fluid" out of it. When put in jar and closed up for a while, you would get a strong smell of gasoline when you opened it again. Took it to the dealer. He advised that the thermostat was stuck open. He changed the thermostat. He told me I was not running the engine fast enough, long enough. Advised me to run it a lot above 4000rpm. I have a problem "swallowing" all of this. Am I being given the straight "skinny"?

Thank you for your input! Do I really have to run the motor above 4000RPM - I usually cruise around 3000.
