checked plug wires and plugs no shorts evident.seams that when you lift motor cover engine revs fine but when lid is installed motor bogs down then stalls.carb seams clean and motor idles perfectly.any idea,s |

Very common problem with BF100's. You have a cracked exhaust pipe. The engine compartment is filling up with exhaust gases and robbing the engine of O2. Take a flashlight and look at the pipe underneath the bottom cylinder. I am sure you will see that it is cracked or corroded. Some people just drill a hole in the side of the cowling near the carb intake to let fresh air in. |

Lost fill plug for bottom end 1983 BF100. Where can I get 1 or 3 of them? Also, sucked some fresh water in - suggestions? |

Recently replaced mine; under $60 from:

Open OIL PUMP on the above site (fill plugs are on same website)
They sent the newer style #18 with a full water jacket, fit fine on older (no water jacket #17 exhaust) engine. |
