My outboard is in bad shape. The last time I went out I filled up the oil before launching and it ran great trolling. After several hours it started to run rough and I shut it down and checked the oil. Sure enough it was totally empty.
So I headed home and after getting the boat out of the water I noticed some dark oil coming out the propeller(exhaust).
Later I filled the motor with oil and put on the muffs to see what was going on. The motor started up fine but I noticed some exhaust smoke coming out the front of the motor. Also when I opened up the oil filler cap I had alot of blow by with oil spraying out out of the filler whole.
The motor has had some serious overheating issues in the past that have been dealt with now - I just wonder if it was too late. Anyone dealt with this before?

oil coming out of cap is normal
you need to do a compression check the leakdown test
sounds like the powerhead gasket is shot |
