I have A Yamaha model S200TXRX. The starter motor will engage for a brief second well motor is running This is causing considerble wear on the pinion gear. Also, motor has very rough high rpm idle. Any help along these lines would be appreciated. |

I have a Yamaha 50 HP 4-stroke that the starter continues to spin even after I release the key. I can turn the key completely off and it will stop, but when I try to start the engine it often briefly cranks the engine, then stops cranking and just spins. Even if I let the key go, it still spins. Any ideas what should be done? I'm trying to decide if I need a new starter or if it is a problem with the switch.
