I bought this motor about 15 years ago and it ran great after a tune up by a mechanic in Toronto. It was built by the successor of the auto maker. A guy told me the hard starting was caused by old/rusted magneto coils. Is this possible? Do I need a puller to get at them? Any tips appreciated. |

Just duct tape a steel ball bearing to the dent in the crank shaft, and support the flywheel with a wedge so you don't load up the top bearing and lightly tap it with a big hammer. You may need some oil and line up the key way with your support wedge.(Do not use any puller) You most likely have dirty points. Just clean them up with emery paper and draw a piece of paper thru them for polish and set to .020. Unless solid state then set to .015. |
