I just received a 9.9 HP Force outboard that is about 15 years old with no more than 10 hours on it, all saltwater. Got it from my dad so I know that he rarely used it. He bought it new. It hasn't been used at all since 2001 and has been sitting in a garage all that time in a seaside environment. Question is would it be hurting anything to just try to fire it up as is, or do I need to have it lubed/tuned up first? |

It wouldn't hurt to put some WD40 in the cylinders, and turn over the engine by hand a few times, also remove and clean the carb, and change the impeller. should be good other than that. |
