Im looking to buy a Chrysler 75hp that ran well last time the owner had it running...about a year ago. I talked to a local Mech who said not to waste my money ($400), that chyrsler motors were hard to find parts for and they were very unreliable motors. Any comments/opinions or suggestions are greatly appreciated as it may help me save some money.

Hi Jay, I'm not one of the knowlegable mechanics that are here but I am and end user with two Chrysler motors (1968 6hp & 1971 85 hp). All outboards will have their problems; just read the postings.
I repaired both of my chryslers and have ran them with out a hitch every weekend this summer.
There are most parts still available. a good source is Franzmarine.com he was a Chrysler dealer and has two 50X100 warehouses full to the rafters.
Watch the postings here, there are others out there. Also check chryslercrew.com.
If you ask a Merc mechanic about a honda or a Evenrude, what do you think he will say?
OK, got my two cents worth ... climbing off my soap box now.
