1984 Force 125 - Dies going into Reverse

Author Message   Brian Brackett Advanced Member Username: kainon Post Number: 911 Registered: 03-2009 Posted on Thursday, August 20, 2009 - 10:25 pm:    1984 Force 125 - Dies going into Reverse Cleaned and adjusted the carbs so it starts quick and idles good in gear in the water (tied to a dock), if I go back to N then to REV, the engine sputters and dies... Any Ideas ? Lower unit had the impeller changed and shifts nicely, good comp 120-125 on all 4. Could the shift linkage need adjusting ? Could the initial timing be off ? the throttle cam is on the mark, but didn't have a timing light with me. Thanks
