I just bought this motor and the markings on the cover says it a 70hp, but the tag has 75bhp, model 7573, serial 2220. Any help would be appreciated.

Ken,

Is it a Chrysler outboard?

Are the you sure the model says 7573 not 75773? Check the model numbers here.

You will have to confirm the number, but my guess is it's a 75HP. The cover might have been replaced at some point with one from a 70HP.

Yes it is a Chrysler. The tag only says 7573. Is there another place on the motor that would have the information. The tag that I am looking at is located on the front of the motor below the carbs. I've checked it against the chart that you suggested and did not find it. I want to get a manuel for it so I can work on it, but don't know the year.

is it chrysler 120hp?
I found the I.D. tag on motor below the carbs it reads model 120HC. my repair & service manual show that all 120hp motors were 4 cyl. but this one is a 3 cyl. I bought the manual so I can service this unit myself, but now I'm confused and not sure what I have.

Larry,

Are you sure the nameplate shows the model number as 120HC, not 1206HC or 1208HC ?

Does the cover say Chrysler or Force?

im having the same problem - i have a chrysler outboard the case says 75hp and my serial # is 7573 - it is a 3 cyl. as well - im 99.9% sure its a 75hp motor but unsure on the year. the boat it came with is a 1968 critchfield so im assuming the motor is original to the boat and in fact it is a 1967 outboard (according to the 75773 serial # that matches that year & hp) my problem is the magnaforce ign. seems to match something off of a early 70's -maybe it was put on some time over the years i dont know - my guess would be its a 1967 though and e-bay is a great place for manuals they usually cover a broad range of years like 60's thru 70's chrysler outboards the only thing ive found different on these motors is the type of ignition set up but theyre all pretty simular

Just purchased a 16'boat w/a 1982 Chrysler 100hp, model 1008H3C. Looks like almost new! Not a scratch, canvas like new. A good deal? I wonder.
When I test run it (in the driveway-yes w/water)
if I shift into gear fast-no engagement, forward or reverse.Engine does speed up.
But if I shift slowly, I can feel the gears meshing and prop spins nicely.
So what gives? Anybody know?
I am really puzzled-this aint like my 1978 85 Johnson.
