I have a 87 force 50 had to rebuild carb pulled float bowl off took shaft out float support spring came out. having some issues putting back on. book says to pull spring around float now when i do this it stays until I put the shaft back through then it pops off float my question is does the shaft pin go through spring or above it. put back together the motor idles but when gas is throttled up in neutral motor stalls have new tank and fuel line (not from wall mart) any info would be great.

Tom I have an 87 50hp force here for repair, I removed the bowl and can't really see the spring,
but the setup is similar to any of the small engines, the float must move up and down about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch, allowing the fuel to flow at a regulated rate, i am certain that the spring just slips over the pin and the needle's flat side rests on the small tab, they can be a pain in the putout by times. Let me know how you make out, I could take some pictures and send them to you. Michael
