I have a 35 hp Chrysler that I thought it had spun the prop. Had it rebuilt but engine still stalls at higher speeds.Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is. |

Its a 1969 model. The motor will act just like you put it into neautral. |

So it's running fine just no forward movement? Do the revs increase when it "stalls"? |

It goes into all the gears fine and runs great untill you try to get the boat up on plane and then it just stalls and revs up. |

Ok first maybe a couple stupid questions - do you trust the place that rebuilt your hub - because that really does sound like a prop slipping. Secondly, have you had the rig for years and this is something that just started happening or is the rig (or the motor or the boat) new to you? Did you change anything - add tabs, doelfin/foil, change the trim, move the motor etc - I'm getting at, did you alter anything that would cause the motor to cavitate/ventilate because of change that did not previously exist.. |

A friend had the boat before me and it always did fine. It spun the original prop and I bought a used one from this guy and it did fine the first couple of times out and then started stalling when you were at full speed. I took it back to him and he replaced the hub he said it must have been bad. It's worse now than before. |

Larry, I would really make sure the prop is good before you start looking in other directions for a problem. The symptoms are classic. With the motor off and the kill switch engaged (if equipped) or the plugs disconnected otherwise, put it in reverse and then grab hold of the prop and and try turning it clockwise - see if you can get it to slip - you shouldn't be able to even with significant force.... |
