Chrysler 100hp O/B 1982 Model # 1008H3C.Just purchased.Appears to have few running hours.
If shifted quickly, no engagement, no prop spin. Engine does rev up.
If shifted slowly gears mesh, prop spins.
Is this normal? Or do I have a problem?
Thanks

More on the Chrysler 100hp.
Now it will not go into gear at all.Forward or reverse.
Could it be cable adjustment? Or worse?
I have ordered the manuals for it-maybe that will tell me something!

C A,
Do you have a remote like this with two cables out the back? If so, the silver botton or knob just behind the throttle control engages the gearset when pushed in. When pulled out the gearset is disabled. This allows one to increase the engine rpm without propeller rotation.

Thanks Dave. You were dead on right.
That was the shifting "problem". With a little carb cleaner added the old girl just purrs.
I was about ready to mess w/the control cables.Or worse-replace it w/a nice 1978, 85 Evenrude off of my 1962 Evenrude 16'.
Always look for the obvious first!

Is 40/1 mix OK for a 1982 Chrysler 100hp with low hours?
It wont be run hard-mostly for transportation from marina to cabin plus a little fishing.
Kids all gone south-so no more water skiing!

If it isn't it will foul the plugs but more importantly it could create carbon build up and stuff the rings....when in doubt, stick to what it says in the book :-)
