Any help and or suggestions on the following will be appreciated.
i am getting ready to re-power my 18' pontoon
with either a 50 or 60 hp mercury.
can someone tell me what the performance difference is between a big foot, and a regular lower unit. also what would i gain by going to a 60 hp over a 50.my usual load is 4-6 adults, 12 gals gas, plus normal life vest etc, the boat is listed @1250lbs,both motors listed @ 260. i'm thinking the 50 would enough, however i have located a new in the crate 60hp-bf 2007, that i buy for about the same as a new 2009 50-bf

i welcome your thoughts and ideas

john
