Where do I find the serial # for a mercury mariner magnum 40 I just got on a boat I bought. It has a minor issue with sputtering near full throttle at around 4200 rpm. |

you are short at least 1000rpm, it should be 5500. Start from the begining compression, spark, remove and clean carbs. Warning, no gas through one carb means no oil to that cyl, certain death if its not already cooked |
