i was wondering how low or how high should you trim your motor when using a electric trim.i had my trim all the way down and my boat was riding with the nose high in the air.is there a certain position to place the motor?? thank you |

First, we need to know what type of drive you have; I assume it's a stern drive. Then we need to define terms: Drive in means the gear case has swung down and forward. That DROPS the bow. Drive out means the gear case is swung up and away from the stern. That raises the bow. Normal (but not always) trimming procedure is: 1. Drive in to get on plane 2. Trim drive out while on plane until the boat porpoises (bow hunts up and down). 3. Slowly bump drive in until the proposing stops. Jeff |

Right! On my inboard cruiser, bumping the trim tab switch but a split second can improve speed noticably on the GPS. Jeff |

every boat is different when it comes to trimming. Some don't trim or want to trim out |

if it wont trim, ive found some people leave the pin in,meaning it can only go to the pin and stop.if the pin is in wrong hole, motor cant get to correct position. |

Weight balance in the boat is another factor on trimming it properly. If your enormous mother-in-law is seated in the bow, along with her equally enormous daughter, ain't no way you're gonna trim that boat out properly! Jeff PS: Uh-oh. I'm gonna get it now! |
