hi i have a 150hp elpto 1986 that has no power at all and will not let me go over 2500 rpm. i pulled plugs and look decent. replaced impeller to eliminate overheating. ran engine on water hose and pulled plug wires while running. stbd bank wires have little to no effect on engine while running when pulling wires. spark is still there but very weak. port bank's spark are real stron and if pull wires on any of the three cylinders the engine almost dies. stbd bank coils are controlled by one switch box and port bank coils controlled by second switch box wich is mounted on top of 1st switch box. can one switch box be "going" out? or do they just go out? also for reference compression is 125 all cylinders.

any feedback?
thanks
ricky

yes you can loose 1 box and they do fail. Did you try swapping them, they look to be the same

yeah i did swap them and the problem continued on the same side. i noticed this time that the regulator/rectifier is melted and the two yellow wires that connect to that are falling apart showing bare wire. are those stator? or triger? will a rectifier cause this problem?

yellow wires are coming from the stator, better look into it.

your stator has the charge coils built into it, it is posible when the rectifier melted it took out the rest
