I have a 1970 merc. 800 that I need help with cold starting. there is a black button next to the shift lever, is that a primer button or a choke? I bought an owners manual for it but it doesn"t say. it starts hard cold but when it warms up its fine. any help please? |

Hi Mike ,
Assuming you have the merc control with the black warm up lever,prime bulb,push warm up lever fully forward,push down on that black button/choke while turning the key. |
