I have a Bayliner Jazz with a Merc/mariner sportjet 90 and cannot get it to run. Thought it was the stator, so I put a "Red" stator unit in it and did get some intermittent firing, but now I have none again. How do I test the switch box to see if it is the problem, or what else could cause the problem? any help is greatly appreciated. |

Only way to test the switch box with out having information about the unit, you would need another known working switch box. not firing could be not getting fuel or too much fuel (flooding). There are inexpensive inline spark testers so you can check each plug wire and verify it's an electrical issue, and easily specifically identify the cylinder. (it has a little lite that flashes when the plug is firing) So you can see when it double fires and misses. |
