I just bought a boat with a 1970 80hp. does this motor have points? the parts listing on it shows a switch box. I have had mercs b4 but small ones, never this big. I"m not familiar with this system. any info. please.

now I find out the power tilt doesn"t work. the motor runs but motor doesn"t move, I have no clue, what do I look for? help please.

I' don't know much about power tilt,I don't have that luxury yet .I'm guessing that you have the type that has the two rams only.Check the oil level in the reservoir,vent screw open? There are other folk here who know a lot more than I about the power tilt than I,but I hope to learn in the not to distant future..Refer to my user name as far as this is concerned..
