This engine has a sticker on it that states: MAX Advance timing is 23* BTDC @ 5500rpm. or 27* cranking speed of 300rpm. However this engine cranks at 600 rpm. What would be the correct max advance ignition timing be cranking @ 600rpm? JB? |

You have to time it with a light. I do mine by disconnecting the carb throttle linkage, then opening the throttle wide open. If the carbs don't open, it's not injurious to the motor. Jeff PS: There's supposed to be a timing pointer located inside the cowl, along with the recoil rope. You stab it into the hole next to the timing tape. |
