Okay I have used just about everything that I can remove a scum on the waterline of my boat. i have use bleach, sno-bowl, and fiberglass stain remover, none have worked. Someone told me to try Muritiac acid, but I am afraid to use it. Can anybody tell me what a good cleaner would be.

Star Brite black streak remover. Put it on full strength and make sure the surface is dry when you do. Spray it on, wait a few seconds for it to soak in, then wipe it off with a dry rag. Works slick!

Jeff I do not want to seem like a nerd, but the scum line is white in color.

Have you tried "ON and Off"? It is an acid based cleaner made for fiberglass hulls. Muratic acid won't hurt the hull either, I've used it on my 21 ft. Cape Horn. But the On and Off works better.

I have tried the "ON and OFF" but it made it worst. It seem like the scum line spread, or it could have taken the paint, the hull is green. Will the Muratic acid do the same?

Probably, I wouldn't try it. Sounds like your gelcoat could be breaking down.

Muriati}}c Acid works fine. Get it at the hardware store. Used to clean brick of conctete. I've used it amny times no problems. It comes in a Plastic gallon bottle so why would it hurt fiberglass. Wash it off with water as you use it .

I brought some Meguliar heavy duty oxidation remover and it worked good. I had to wax the area when I was done.
