I have a Mercury 115 2 stroke 1994
Friend put a new pump on it ,the trim will go up but not down,he had fluid in it.
Gave it to me empty of fluid.
Anyone know the steps I need to go through to test it?

I recently jammed the relay in the "open" position on my Merc 40 after hitting a pothole while towing. I had a terrible time finding a replacement relay, but, my Clymer's Mercury/Mariner Outboard shop manual has a wonderful chapter on the trim system, and how to test it. My manual is for 4-90hp, but, I assume they also publish for the larger engines (cost $35, but has been well worth the money.
