Hi all, Looking for some thoughts on a problem I'm having with my 1996 Merc. 9.9. It will start on the first pull almost all the time, runs great at idle, but as soon as I give it more than say 1/4 throttle it stalls out. When I first fire it up it might get full throttle for a few min before it stalls and from then on it dies quickly after 1/4. I noticed the primer bulb seemed to go soft so I picked up another and it still dies. The new bulb does stay hard. I had the carb cleaned and new gaskets last year. I always run the gas out after each use. This just started as it was running fine this year. The only thing I've done recently, for maintenance, is run some sea foam through it. My thoughts are that the carb is gummed up again and I was thinking of trying some spray-in cleaner and if that doesn't work try taking it off and do a thorough cleaning. My other thought was to try new gas. Anyone have a different thought? Thanks in advance. |

Try readjusting the idle mixture screw. Turn it OUT about 1/4 turn and see if that helps. Jeff |
