Well I'm back.
We took the boat out, ran great at first, we tooled around for about 3 hours, Docked for 10 min. started her back up and didn't get more than 50 ft. from shore. Brother was driving( he broke it!)
He said it felt like we ran over something( rope or something) then lost power.Engine died and wouldn't restart. Tank full.
with engine off, In Reverse prop doesn't turn either way, In forward, it turns freely one way with a click,
I know it's very hard to trouble shoot something like this, but any ideas what might have happened? We didn't run over any rope. nothing was caught in the propeller.
Some people are too dumb to own a boat* points at me*

Thanks Guys,
and Graham sorry about the Lambykins thing :-)

Can you turn the flywheel by hand?

Was it in forward or reverse when it died?

not sure what the fly wheel is, and it was in forward. slow throttle, leaving the dock.

This is normal. When the engine is in forward gear the prop will turn freely only counterclockwise and you will hear a click and when the engine is in reverse gear the prop will not turn in either direction. Again this is how it should be. Is the engine turning when you try to start it or does it do nothing when you turn the ignition key?

It tries to turn over but doesn't.
We're going to take it to a shop, We just don't know enough about the motor to even try and fix it.
Wouldn't even know where to begin.
Thanks for the help.

Sorry, been busy.
seems "someone" forgot to open the vent on the tank*
One of the spark plug wires was a little loose.
Now we have a gas leak.
Just been sitting there, I primed the bulb and it's leaking from the connection on the motor.

Moral of the story.. Never gloat about " fixing" the boat

Good for you girl!

Leak is not too much of an issue if you like living on the edge [don't forget the fire extinguisher. Unless, of course, you're one of those hardcore types...]

Fix that leak, save the environment, your rig and gas. Mostly, the vacuum from the fuel pump will avoid the leak. Yet, it can cause poor running by sucking in air when it should be pulling fuel. Usually, a new fuel line connector will solve the gripe, assuming the "male" fitting on the motor is in good nick.

You get the arrangement sorted yet as to the use of the rig? You tube during day and brother fishes at night?

Got the leak issue fixed. New lines and connectors.
Boat is running GREAT!
Spent all weekend on the lake.
Fished and tubed and of course MY fish( Big Drum) mysteriously got off the stringer "somehow"
Tubed most the day yesterday,. We are all sore and sunburned. But had a great time.
I can not express how grateful I am to have found this site and for all the wonderful people who take the time to share their knowledge and information.
