I Have a MCM 170 Mericruiser engine in a 1986 glasstream. It was turning over real slow with a new battery in it then it stopped and now I can't get it to turn over. The starter trys but won't turn the enging over. |

Hi, I am no expert, remove the spark plugs and try to turn over, (assuming its a fluid lock, this will allow excess fluids in the cylinders to escape), if no luck, then I think your starter motor needs a rebuild or replaced. Why did you replace the battery, it may have not been the battery at fault, but the starter motor |

When my motor did that it ended up being the starter. New battery just prolonged it. When I took the starter off it spun just fine. I did notice it got alittle hot though. You can take it to your local starter rebuilder (look in phone book) can test it for you, usually for free. Good luck!! |
