I have a 1995 mercury mariner 150 magnum efi. It starts and idles find but when I put it in gear and try to throttle up it will not build any rpm's. At most at wide open throttle is around 1200-1500 rpm. Tried plugs/gas/fuel filter/water separator/new battery. Any ideas will really be appreciated. Thanks

Test compression, 14 years old would be considered a couple years over the "typical" lifespan of that motor before she was rebuilt...

while you are checking stator also check the trigger under it. I had 94 Mariner 200 that would not get up or would get up then loose power. when I was checking stator I found crack in the trigger. Replaced trigger and ran fine.
