Hello,

I am trying to help a friend fix her new 2007 15HP four stroke outboard. She said it died at running speed and would not start. I started it up after getting towed back in (next day). It started easily and seemed to run fine, but won't idle. It just stalls if you let the throttle go to idle. The gas is clean and new. I replaced the inline fuel filter and added some Star-tron to the gas. It did not make a difference. She had it tuned in the spring and has been running fine. I was convinced that it was a clogged filter, but I gues that it wasn't. I don't know what to try next? Any ideas?

P.S. water flow from side of engine was strong. No clog there.

2007 should still be under warranty (3 years on portable 4 strokes).

I'm assuming these still have a carb on them which sounds like the mostly likely cause of the issue.

What was "tuned" in the spring - dealers charge 150 bucks to throw in a new pair of sparkplugs and call that a "tune up".

Was it winterized? if not, a clog in the fuel system is most likely the cause.
