Hi Shelley, have you got an external hydraulic pump?most trim units arre all inbuilt units.judging by those two hydraulic hoses, your pump must be inboard.the release screw is either at the bottom of that ram[pictured]or on the inboard unit.the release screw doesnt come out, only turns and stops.might pay to support motor in case u undo something and it crashes down and damages something.when u click the down switch,do u get the relay clicking on and off.u could try swapping the relays.the UP relay definitly works.the emergency way,is to crack off the up hydraulic hose fitting, and let the oil bleed out slowly.support the motor a bit

Need to c bottom of ram where the pipe goes in.if u follow those two pipes from the ram, theyll lead u to the pump[could be under something]when u push the down switch, the relay will click.follow that noise.ull find it either next to the pump,or somewhere.relays are usually on outboards when u have an integral trim ram/pump inside the transom bracket

Might get laughed outta the shop here but here comes my tuppence worth. I had exactly the same problem with exactly the same engine. First time it happened i give the trim motor a bit of a whack with a hammer (just like your old cars starter motor on a cold day). This worked. The second time i decided to be a bit more technical. I noticed that the battery voltage was dropping a fair bit when trying to operate. I fully charged the battery and it worked fist time...no hammer. Just a suggestion to maybe check and charge your battery.
