I have a Mariner 9.9M serial number 682CS 051551 and I'd like to know the year.
I think it has a bad coil, open from plug wires to ground and primary measures shorted. Any ideas where to get parts?

Phil, that is a 1980 Yahama built model.
The coil on this model is Merc part number 95188T - just don't be too surprised when a dealer tells you it's a 135 dollar part... |

Phil, I don't have manuals to cover the Yamaha built models, but should be able to test with a simple ohm meter.
Just follow this link - diagrams and part numbers for your entire motor...
