CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT YEAR A MERCURY OUTBOARD WITH THE SERIAL NUMBER OF OD 016658 WOULD BE AND HOW MUCH IT'S WORTH POSSIBLY? |

Ken, in general that serial is about a 1991 model, but without the horsepower, can't tell for sure.
The serial is not encoded - it contains no date or horsepower etc.
Again, depending on the horsepower the value can fall into quite a range.
A 9.9 or 15 horse of that vintage, running well could well sell for 1000 bucks on a good day.
Anything over 100 horse may sell for 1500 bucks.
Other models may go for 500-750 - depends what you have.
If your title is indicative of what you have - possibly a 17 year old motor with only 15 hours on it - it will be worth far less than one with 500 or more hours on it. At only 15 hours that tells potential buyers that it has sat "neglected" for years with the likelyhood that it has never seen any routine maintenance. While pretty to look at, it's functionality would be significantly degraded.
Far more outboards die from lack of use than overuse.... |
