Oil alarm activated on 1996 150 Mariner EFI when reservoir got low three trips ago. I immediately filled both reservoirs and now the alarm seems to have no pattern at all to its sparatic beeping. It seems very coincedential that the alarm never sounded prior to running low and now it is constantly sounding at some time or another. It may beep for about five seconds and then it may beep for 5 minutes. It may go an hour without beeping then it may only go 5 minutes. Very frustrating!!! Anybody got an idea what this may be? Thanks for the help.

Crappy sensor that is prone to failure (and does regularly). That is the first thing to troubleshoot.

The "oil alarm" only tells you if the tank is getting low, not if the system is working properly...

Where can I find this sensor? The only one I know of is the float within the reservoir.

That's the one I'm talking about..

If you unhook it from it's harness, and the reservoir is full of oil, testing between the two leads with an ohm meter should provide "significant" resistance (basically NO continuity) - if you have any kind of continuity, the sensor is toast...
