Gentleman,
I have a 2000 50 HP Mercury Bigfoot 4-Stroke Outboard with the following symptoms:
1. Oil/cooling Alarm briefly went off yesterday while fishing and did not repeat when engine restarted.
2. Noticed today that very little cooling water is coming out of the outake..assuming the intake is not clogged, can sombody help me with the following?
* Do I need to replace the impeller only or do I need an impeller kit?
* Can sombody provide me with the specific repair procedure (with illustration) as my "general maintainence" guide does not include replacing an impeller.

I don't know a ton about OB's, but I do know some about I/O. If you decide to replace the impeller(sounds like ur problem) you should go ahead and buy the whole kit. The price isn't that much difference, and atleast you will know all is new and not wonder at a leter time....I made this mistake on an older I/O I think I saved maybe 35 bucks not buying the kit. Sorry I can't help with diagrams. |
