Hi, The serial number for my mariner 40 is 6E9S110388W.

Its got a bust fuel pump and need to know the part number for it?

Any help would be great or if anyone has one they want to sell, let me know.

Matt

Matt, usually it's the diaphram that goes - merc part number 84141M but also worth at least replacing the cover gasket as well (27-80614) - both available from any Merc dealer for less than 20 bucks.

I don't see a OEM rebuild kit listed at Merc at all (but may be available) - a whole new fuel pump assembly (43113T) goes for about 60 bucks.

Andrew who runs this site sells the Sierra aftermarket parts. Sierra part numbers 18-7839 and 18-7840 together will also replace the diaphram on your fuel pump...

I bought a 1993 40 HP mercury outboard and the engine starts, goes very slow in forward but when the throttle is pushed forward for more speed, the engine dies. Spark seems strong so I am assuming a carb problem. Can anyone help me on this? Thanks.

Gerry, definately sounds like a clogged carb - requires disassembly, full cleaning, possibly a kit.

But just to make sure before you go that route, try pumping the bulb on the fuel line as you throttle up - no sense rebuilding the carb if the fuel pump is shot....
