Need advise from proceeding any further.
This is a 1983 mariner/Yamaha 60Hp.
I did notice lack of spay showing from motor housing indicating water pump not efficient.
I purchased a new replacement impellor and fitted it ..It was a tight fit due to those 6 rubber flaps needed to be turned in a little to fit the housing over the impellor.
When I had removed the bottom part of the leg and had a look at the impellor one of those rubber flaps had come off and jammed into the entrance which leads up the tube.
The next thing was where the water comes up to the impellor thru housing gap it was almost blocked and has been cleared out.
I had refitted and did a ear muff test to find there is a very small amount of water coming out at the motor housing stream.any ideas what I need to do next.. |

to install new pump, slide impeller on shaft with key in place, lube impeller, place plastic cover over shaft and push down while turning crankshaft clockwise. Blow compressed air from water outlet down with lower unit removed to find water pump pieces. |
