1:i tried to put a battery in the wires and the very first time i turned it seemed fine then i got gas ready then i tried to turn it again and the battery flew sparks off and it seemed like the motor turned nothing

2:the rope starter well the rope goes out and in fine but its like attached to nothing like shouldnt it pull the motor u know so maybe came lose?

3: the gas tank isnt pulling gas from the tank and i prime it but doent work maybe i should install new gas lines? and primer bulb would be better?

4:if i could the rope starter working what problems would i have since it hasnt ran in like 10 years?

ps any diagrams might help me get the fix the rope starter?

Well lets start from no:1 did you check the terminals on battery to make sure they were secure as loose terminals can cause a spark when current is transferred. no:2 the rope starter (pull) is obviously spinning but not engaging the flwheel underneath it, the pawls could be siezed or sticky it may just need to be removed and cleaned and lubed up. no:3 check for leaks in lines from tank to engine, inside tank pick up could be also deteriorated, connectors losing pressure due to air leaks? i would at first change the line and prmer bulb as the diaghram is most probably shagged. problems since it hasnt run in 10 years, well other than the above!! um carbs will have a varnish on them so they will need to be removed and thouroughly cleaned then new gaskets. reed valves could be shot inside, compression test?? do one before you spend any time or money you are looking for at least 120+ per cylinder with mo more than + or - 10 between cylinders. water pump system the impeller will definately be shot if there is actually anything left of it, you will have to drop the bottom leg to replace it, another post at another time i suggest you do the compression first then get back to us. then we can worry about further things like Wiring and carbs etc..

what actually got hot?? the battery? if the terminals and the battery got hot when u were cranking it over it is becuase the engine is drawing to much current, maybe your leads from the terminals to the engine are faulty, corroded or just plain old and brittle. check all connections are tight at battery and on engine ie: earth lead and starter motor lead. i would suggest a standard sized car battery 11 plate would be ideal, im not sure what is available over there as i am in australia, i run an 11 plate car battery for my engine, the battery is suitable for high electrical consumption suited for injected motors that run computer systems it is a bit of overkill but the cranking amps are great and it is a bit of peice of mind knowing i have a strong battery.
