| Can't tilt 2006 8hp Mercury motor |

I have a 2006 4 stroke 8hp Mercury outboard. I cannot tilt the motor up, I have it in forward gear, but something seems to be binding, any ideas. |

Charlie, alot of the smaller motors have a second tilt lock (aside from the one that operates with the shift shaft.
Depending on your perspective (right hand side if you were in the boat looking back at the motor) there is a small knob on the side of the motor bracket. It's in a kinda slot with a stop point at either end. You simply slide the knob from one of the stop points to the other to lock/unlock the bracket... |

Had a similar hassle once...
Have not, by accident, locked the motor with the tilt pin? A veteran boater pointed this one out to me...
