I have a Mercury 15ML4 which is a manual start, 4 stroke. It has developed a sudden fault in that it is impossible to pull the starter rope.My initial thought was that the engine had seized.
However, when I switch off the lanyard stop switch, put into forward gear and turn the propellor by hand, just half a turn, then it is possible to pull the rope without any problems at all. When the propellor is turned by hand the engine feels free to turn over as normal.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you. |
