I have a 1982 or 83, Yamaha built Mariner 60hp (60FO japan)
The 2 carbs had to be cleaned out as suggested by this forum due to fuel being left in them over a long period of time..wasn’t my fault,I had both reconditioned with full carby kits which were done by a marine engineer.I fitted them back onto the motor myself..easy enough job.
I took the boat out and it did the same thing again ..getting up to half to three quarter throttle it lost power starving effect.ran it for a bit longer and tried again and got full throttle any ideas why it would do this..Wouldn’t surprise me for this to happen again on the next outing..Any ideas what’s going on.. |

John, pump the fuel bulb when it messes up, if it helps then its a fuel related issue. |

Yes, could be an air leak, crud in the tank blocking the pick-up, faulty vent cap on the tank, crud in the fuel filter.... |
