| Mariner 115 that has a very rough idle |

I just bout a bass bout with a 115 mariner engine on it. The engine really doesnt want to idle at all. It may idle for ten seconds or so but then spits and dies out. I'm not real familiar with marine engine applications (i'm a diesel technician)I started with the basics and changed the plugs and put filled the tank with new fuel. This really didnt help anything. To me, this seems like an intake gasketing issue. Maybe there is a bad gastet between the intake and carbs somewhere.
But the other thing that i noticed is that it drips fuel back into the plastic intake when i raise the engine up, (raise it up so i can trailer it). Is this normal, or do the carbs need to be rebuilt.
If anyone has any knowledge that could be usefull i would appreciate the input greatly! |

Shaun, the fuel dripping from the carbs when tilted is quite normal.
However, if the motor has sat for any length of time there is a good chance that the low speed jets (needle valves) have clogged up on you.
Disassembly and a good clean out is probably all this needs... |
